Chris Lavelle—beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend—passed away of natural causes but far too soon on December 20th, 2018. An eternally free spirit who loved surprises and travel, she’d recently realized her dream of becoming a flight attendant, and was thrilled to be spending her days jet-setting the world, meeting new people and visiting her more far-flung children and grandchildren. Her new airline family realized in just a few short months what her relatives have long known: Chris was selfless; there was nothing in her power she wouldn’t do for a friend or family member. Generous to a fault, she’d never hesitate to lend a shoulder, an ear, or her last dollar to anyone who needed it. Steadfastly true to herself, she did things her way, forging her own blazing path through life rather than choosing the easy road. She gave her love and her time unconditionally; she was spontaneous, vivacious, impulsive, and open-hearted. In her new career, she was fast earning commendations from passengers and colleagues whose travels were vastly enhanced by Chris’s warmth, efficiency, ability to comfort, and her own true joy in the experience, a joy that was infectious to all who encountered her. Many lives have been forever changed for having encountered Chris, and those of us lucky enough to have known her the longest will find our days significantly dimmed without her light and her laughter illuminating the hours. As she never was one to love “resting in peace,” we have some other wishes for our girl as she leaves us: May she find a good Scrabble companion in the great beyond; may she watch over us all as we attempt to navigate our lives without the benefit of her benevolent rasp on the other end of a phone call; and may she continue to soar the friendly skies on her well-earned wings.
Chris is predeceased by her parents Enrica and Armando Marzoli and her brothers Sergio and Paolo. She is the beloved mother to Ashley, Brittany and her husband Anthony, Kevin, Christopher, and Taylor. Chris is also the loving sister of Gabriella, Kim, Laura and her husband Fergus, Joseph, and Debbie and her husband Dean. She is survived by her grandchildren Kaleigh, Dean, and Vincent.
Memorial Gathering will be at the Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home 1735 Rt 35 Middletown, New Jersey 07748 on Friday December 28, 2018 From 7-9pm. Prayer service will start at 8pm.
In lieu of flowers the family will be accepting donations to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Chris’s memory.
