John Lopez – 66 of Red Bank, NJ passed away peacefully on March 20, 2020 at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, NJ surrounded by his family. John was born on September 27, 1953 in Brooklyn NY. After graduating High school John met his wife Lillian and were married in 1974. They moved from Brooklyn to Hazlet to raise their family. John worked as a trader before retiring to spend more time with his family. He is predeceased by his parents Juan and Emilia Lopez, as well as his sister Jackie. John is the beloved husband of Lillian for 46 wonderful years. He is the devoted father to Kim and her husband Kevin, Steven, Jeannette, Jeffrey and his wife Kim. John is the caring brother to Joey, Raymond, Ruben, Patricia, Betty, Carmen, and Maria. He is survived by his grandchildren Anthony, Matthew, Tyler, Erik, Jaxon, Alyssa, Parker and Travis; as well as his great grandchild Anthony. He has a very special place in his heart for the NY Yankees. However John loved nothing more than spending time with his family. He was a man who fought with every breath to stay with them. For those of us that called him dad and Pa. He was our protector, our shoulder, a man that could never be replaced. A great light that heaven stole for itself.

John will be reposing at the Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home 1735 Rt 35, Middletown, NJ 07748 on Wednesday March 25, 2020 from 1 – 3pm.

Due to the unfortunate circumstances of the time, we chose to prioritize the health of our family and friends. Since groups exceeding 10 are not permitted, we will be holding an intimate service for immediate family only. We appreciate your understanding.

Once these precautionary restrictions are lifted, we intend to hold a Celebration of Life Memorial. We hope to gather and reflect on the life of John Lopez together, soon.

Please feel free to post any pictures and share your favorite memory of dad. Flowers are appreciated but please refrain from sending them at this time.

My heart hurts for the whole Lopez family. John was a special man who made such a difference in the lives of those he knew. I watched him many times show kindness and love to the older folks at the Atrium. He always had a smile on his face, a great story to share and a helping hand when needed. I personally enjoyed hearing every detailed story of what was happening with all of his kids, young and old. He will be missed. May you all find comfort in your memories and knowing how much he loved you all.

From day 1 you treated me as your 3rd son , well maybe day 2 cause day 1 you "tried " to be the intimidating dad when I came to the house to pick up your Kimmie . We all know that just wasn't your way. Thank you for accepting me into your crazy Lopez family as one of your kids all those years ago . You will be truly missed . Love you Pa and Go Yanks !! (You know thats love ) Kevin
