Obituary

Ken Kaufman
(June 30, 1939 – April 22, 2020)

Ken Kaufman passed of natural causes on April 22, 2020. He was predeceased in 2016 by the love of his life and wife of 53 years, Carole Kaufman.

Ken was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY before marrying Carole and moving to Hazlet, NJ in 1968.

Ken was a commercial artist by week and a deli man by weekend. He was a kind, compassionate, creative and loving man who was could fix anything. In Hazlet, he was the go-to neighbor if anyone had an issue with their home. It did not matter if it was electrical, plumbing, HVAC, lawn mower, broken door, screen. You name it and people would call Kenny to come over and help. And he did, every time. He will be remembered fondly for his kindness and generosity. This was a man who loved doing for others.

Ken loved to cook, collect coins and play poker either with the guys in the clubhouse at Shadow Lake Village, on his computer or down in Atlantic City.

When it came time for his weekly grocery shopping, the first stop was always at his daughter and son in laws bagel shop, Hole lot of bagels to “stock up” before going to ShopRite.

When things got a bit boring, he would always find an adventure with his grandson, Jimmy. They were partners in crime…until they got caught by either Lisa or Jeff doing something they shouldn’t.

Ken is survived by his two children: Lisa Bryer and husband Jim of Middletown, NJ and Jeff Kaufman and wife Amy of Westfield, NJ. Also surviving their “POP” are 4 grandchildren, Brianne (and husband Brian); Jimmy, Rachel and Matt and 3 great grandchildren Sean, Kyle and Cole. He is also predeceased by sister Beverly and survived by brother David Kaufman and wife Marcia of Cairo, NY.

He will be sadly missed by all.

A memorial service and celebration of his life is to be held at a later date.
