Obituary

Mary Louise (Mary Lou) V. Steinberg – 74 of Middletown, NJ passed away on April 24, 2020 at Riverview Medical Center. Mary Lou was born on April 19, 1946. She Graduated Carteret High School in 1965 and Graduated Middlesex County Vo-Tech as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Working in a medical unit and eventually in a mental health unit, she became very interested in addiction. Attended Rutgers First Annual School of Drug and Alcohol Studies and became a Certified Alcohol Counselor. Also, took test to become nationally certified. Her interest continued and she worked in the South Amboy Chemical Dependency Program again testing and receiving a certificate as a Certified Dry and Alcohol Counselor. For a short time MaryLou had a private practice.

Her final years of employment was spent as a nurse at KIDS Early Learning Center under the guidance of Director Kathy Burs. Mary Lou loved working with children. She retired in 2009.

Mary Lou was pre-deceased by her husband of 46 years David Steinberg. She was also pre-deceased by her brother Edward V. Cullen and sister Elizabeth Ann (Betty Ann Brunner) and her husband Paul J. Brunner. She is also survived by MaryLou DeMaria-Berhang, her husband Kurt Berhang, and daughter Carly. Also, by her husband’s cousin Mary Ellen Bickler, her husband Allen and their children Eric, Krysti, and Jeffrey. Also, by niece Dawn Romine and her husband Tom and four grandnieces Megan, Allie, Juliana, and Renee. And by best friend of more than sixty years Donna Ur and her husband Laci.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home 1735 Rt. 35 Middletown, NJ 07748. Due to the currently COVID-19 health crisis, visitation and services will be held privately for the immediate family only.
