Obituary

Maurice T. McGowan “Moe” – 68 of Leonardo, NJ, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2019 at Riverview Hospital in Red Bank, NJ. Moe was born on October 20, 1951 in Long Branch, NJ, and went on to attend Mater Dei High School and Graduated from Georgian Court College. After growing up in Belford, he met his beloved wife of 43 years, Diane, and raised their children in Leonardo, NJ. Moe worked for Verizon for 33 years as a system technician, but his true passion was coaching, especially for the BYAA little league teams.

Moe was predeceased by his parents, John and Catherine McGowan, as well as his brothers Johnny and Bobby. Moe was the devoted father of Thomas McGowan, Joseph McGowan and his wife Sara, Jessica McGowan and her fiancé Anthony, and Amy and her husband Michael Catapano. Moe is survived by his grandchildren whom he loved dearly- Aidan, Reece, Mason, Jackson, Emily, Austin, and Dylan. He is also survived by his siblings Pat, Billy, and Noreen, as well as his sister-in-law Corine and all of his many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Moe had many joys in life, some of which were gardening the lawn, football, baseball, and wrestling. Of all his joys, it was his family that made him shine brightest, especially spending time with his grandchildren. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Moe will be reposing at the Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home at 1735 Rt. 35, Middletown, NJ 07748 on Monday October 7, 2019 from 4 – 8pm; all are welcomed to attend. In Lieu of flowers please make a donation to Leonardo First Aid.

I was so sorry to hear of Moe's passing. We worked together at Bell Atlantic/Verizon. I will always remember his bright smile and great sense of humor--2 wonderful gifts. I was so happy to read about his joy for his family and especially all his grandchildren. I'm sure that was a blessing to him. God bless you all.

Hi Di, we haven’t seen you guys in a while.but my feelings have always been the same as always. We love You and Moe and Tommy, Joey, Jesse and Amy. When I think of you guys I always think of Christmases ,eating all of that food and watching the little ones sitting in a circle around Billy, playing his guitar and singing Christmas carols.and as always watching Bobby taking food with his hands😃. Dianne and I will always remember our trip to Rhode Island to watch Whale watching with the kids, especially pretending to be Gay with Moe and having him running away from me! We are thinking of you.our next trip up to NJ we will get together with you. Kevin is getting married February 1st so it will probably be next summer. We Love You Di and be thinking of you. Love you
