Obituary

On Monday, February 17, 2020, Michael J. Kammerer, Sr., 66, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.

Michael was born on December 18, 1953 in Red Bank, NJ to Edward and Marie Kammerer. He graduated from Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School in 1972, and he was a member of IATSE Local 52 for 42 years.

Michael had a love for motorcycles and enjoyed riding his Harley with his buddies any chance he could. He was known for his quick wit, quick hands, and a great smile. He cherished the time he spent cooking or eating out with friends and family. Michael had a way of making everyone in the room gravitate to him and had a vibrant personality which led him to have many great friends throughout his lifetime.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Edward. He is survived by his mother Marie and her husband Jack, his two sons, Michael (Rachel) and Matthew, Sally (Derf), the mother of his two boys, his uncles Ken (Anne-Marie) and Jerry, his sister Carol (Bob), his two nephews Glenn and Mike (Brooke), and his girlfriend Rose, who loved and cared for him dearly, and her three children TC, Emesha (Jameson), and Timea as well as his two grandchildren, Jake and Remi.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to the team of doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals at Memorial Sloan Kettering and Riverview Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at Seabright United Methodist Church at 1:00 pm. A gathering of friends and family will be held at Val’s Tavern in Rumson following the memorial.
