Nicholas John Bonamassa - 75 of Leonardo, NJ passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Riverview Medical Center on February 28, 2019. Nicholas was born on April 29, 1943 in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated from James Madison High School and soon after met his wife Bernadette. They married in 1963 and lived in Brooklyn until 1993 then moved to Middletown, NJ. He was the VP for Securities Lending at JP Morgan Chase until retirement in 1998.
Each day started off with Nick reading the newspaper end-to-end with a cup of coffee in his hand. This is all while listening to the stock market on tv in the background. Nick loved his routines!
Nick enjoyed playing golf with his buddies and would drop whatever he was doing to grab the best Tee time for them! From Opening Day until the season was over, you can bet that Nick knew the Yankee game schedule. He LOVED watching the games and was a huge fan! Nick also LOVED music and could probably sing the lyrics to any song from the 40’s to the 60’s. His love for music was contagious and his music collection was endless. By far, his favorite singer and entertainer was Frank Sinatra. Nick and Frank can now sing together and do things “Their Way…”
Nicholas is predeceased by his father Alfonso and his mother Mary. Nicholas was the beloved husband of Bernadette for 56 wonderful years. He is the devoted father of Annette, Marie, Michael, and Maryann. He is the loving brother of John Bonamassa. Nicholas is survived by Marisa, Gianna, Carina, Nicholas, Alex, Matthew, Andrew and Natalie.
Above all else Nick was a family man. He would always say that “family is everything” and he truly lived these words through his actions. He was an anchor for those he loved. He was a selfless man who would help when you needed it, provide guidance when you were lost or just listen when you needed to talk. Nick was a very generous man and always gave what he could to others. He always had a smile to share and tried to see the positive side of things. When you met Nick for the first time or if you knew him your whole life, his impression was tremendous and everlasting. Nick was one-of-a-kind and will be truly missed by his family and friends. His legacy will carry on.
Nicholas will be reposing at the Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home 1735 Rt. 35, Middletown, NJ 07748 on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 – 4pm & 7 – 9pm.
