Obituary

Robert L. Donato – 77, of Red Bank, NJ, beloved husband for 55 years to Lorraine Donato, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on March 3, 2020 at Bayshore Rehab in Holmdel, NJ. Robert was born in Brooklyn , NY on March 25, 1942. After graduating High School, Robert wanted to serve his country proudly and enlisted into the United States Army. After his tour of duty, Robert was honorably discharged. The following year after his return from service, Robert and Lorraine were married. They lived in Brooklyn, then moved Staten Island, in 1970 to raise their family before settling in Red Bank, NJ. Robert worked as a over the counter sales trader for more than 40 years, a majority of those years with Mayer and Schweitzer in Jersey City, NJ. Robert is predeceased by his parents Edward Donato and Mazie Smith, as well as his son Robert. He leaves his children, Todd and his wife Elaine and Melissa and her husband Derrill. Brother to Marcia and Edward. Cherished grandfather to Robert, Andrea, Jessica, Dylan, Matthew, Robert, and Angela. Robert had many joys in life. Some of which were his New York Giants, golf, softball, and movies. Robert also loved to travel extensively with his family and friends. His biggest joy in life was his family, especially his grandchildren. He was known for his dry wit and sense of humor. He was well liked and admired by many. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Robert will be reposing at the Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home 1735 Rt. 35, Middletown, NJ 07748 on Saturday March 7, 2020 from 4 – 8pm. A Prayer Service will be offered in the funeral home Saturday night at 8pm.

I knew Bobby probably 40 years, we were partners on Wall Street for about 20 years, It was a great partnership. Rest in peace my friend love Frank Vallone
