Rosemarie Rescigno or (“Aunt Ro”) who so many called her by– 86 of Middletown, NJ, passed away peacefully at Bayshore Rehabilitation in Holmdel, NJ on December 4th, 2018 with her family by her side. She was born on May 24, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY. After graduating High School Rosemarie met her husband Alphonse and spent her life dedicated to her family. After living in Brooklyn for many years Rosemarie decided 19 years ago to move to Middletown, NJ to be closer to her family. Nothing was more important to Rosemarie than her family. She is predeceased by her husband of 61 wonderful years Alphonse Rescigno, her parents Rose and Carmelo Salamone, her grandson Richard J. Cagnoni, and her siblings Nancy Comisso, Nino Salamone, and Mario Salamone. Rosemarie was the devoted mother to her children Nina and Richie Cagnoni and Pasquale and Diane Rescigno. She is the loving sister to Joan Salamone, Carmela DeLuca , Barbara Valinotti, and Joseph Salamone. Rosemarie is survived by her grandchildren Dayna and Sean Bailey, Alicia Rescigno, Alphonse Rescigno, Rebecca Cagnoni, Patricia Rescigno, and Jonathan Cagnoni. She is also survived by her great grandson Lucas Richard Bailey as well as many nieces and nephews whom “Aunt Ro” loved. Rosemarie had many joys in life, some of which were playing cards, Scrabble, Sunday morning crossword puzzles, going to Atlantic City, watching her favorite team the NY Yankees, and her passion for Frank Sinatra was unconditional. She was also known for her excellent cooking, especially her pancakes. Mostly her love for her children and grandchildren was her whole life. Rosemarie was a loving Wife, Mother, Aunt, Sister, and Friend who will be missed by all.
Rosemarie will be reposing at the Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home, 1735 Route 35, Middletown, NJ 07748 on Thursday December 6, 2018 from 4 – 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday December 7, 2018 at 10:30am at St. Mary’s Chapel 26 Leonardville Rd, Belford, NJ 07718. Entombment to follow at St. John Cemetery in Queens, NY.
